Beginning with the first litter we bred, we were determined to create and maintain a line of Griffons that had exceptional hunting instinct, correct structure, good temperament and sustainable health. We will continue to do our part in preserving this wonderful breed for generations to come!

Read below to learn about the work we’ve done to increase genetic diversity in the breed and improve hunting instinct, correct structure, good temperament and health in the breed through our international connections.

Aron 1.jpg

Our first import came from Sara Beckman in Sweden. Aron was from the first Griff litter born there. His dam was German and sire was Dutch. The German and Dutch Griffons are truly versatile. They hunt both fur and feather. Our first litter was out of our American girl Koko (Ch North Lake’s Bit O’Honey and Aron (Griffinorr Aron Jagerans Van).

Shortly after Aron, we added Chewie to our breeding program (Ch Griffinorr Chewbagga).  Chewie was used as stud twice in our breeding program and added greatly to our genetic diversity as we bred back into our exceptional Glacier Griffs.

Allan and doc.jpg

Here you see Allan Durand with Doc (Ch Glacier’s Marvin the Martian’s What’s Up Doc). Doc is a product of Chewie (left). Doc has sired one beautiful glacier litter to date. Click on Doc’s name to learn more about him. He is available for stud via frozen semen.

We then exported a Glacier Griff to Germany. Uschi Van Elten took Glaciers Continental (Conti) back to Germany and bred her with enormous success. From one of those breedings, a very special puppy was born and brought back to America. Rica, of Dutch registration became a lovely hunter and producing a very nice litter, earning Glacier Kennels a NAVHDA Breeder’s Award.

Lambo (3).jpg

In 2016 in an effort to further enhance the genetic diversity of our line, we used a French import (GCH Lambo Des Bords De L'Arroux.) This dog was imported by Kristi Libertore and was a good addition,  producing some lovely puppies with good hunt drive. These puppies have gone on to achieve great things not only in the field but in the conformation show ring. Lambo along with GCH GLACIER'S KAI KANANI AT TALUS produce Banner, Quincy and Scout. Click on their names to learn more about these beautiful dogs.

Barney.jpg

Recently we worked with Katy Stuehm of Griffonpoint Kennels. Katy imported Barney (Watereaton’s Little Aquilla) from Great Britain. Again, more diversity than we could accomplish if only using North American dogs. Barney was bred to Ziva to produce 10 amazing puppies. Four of those puppies are Archie, Sawyer, Nellie and Fox. These dogs excel in the field. We are quite proud of them. Click on the pup’s names and Ziva’s name above to learn more.

It takes a village!

All of this would not have been possible without the help of great friends and Griff enthusiasts. To all the Glacier Griff owners that made this possible, many thanks!
